• The serial number was on a plate riveted to the swivel bracket above and between the clamp screws..
• Serial numbers 3293184 thru 3547986 were 1972 models.
• Serial numbers 3547987 thru 3807832 were 1973 models.
• 1972-73 Merc 650's were produced in Merc 650E (Electric Starting, Short Shaft, with Alternator) and Merc 650EL (Electric Starting, Long Shaft, with Alternator)
