General Information:


  • Model & serial numbers were on the instruction plate riveted to a bracket attached to the lower cowl, just above the front carrying handle.
  • Serial numbers 943251 thru 997919 and 999920 thru 1025986 were 1956 models.
  • 1031987 thru 1096981 were 1957 models.
  • 1163546 thru 1166470 were 1958 models. Some engines in the serial number group 997920 thru 999919 were originally made as Mark 30H's, but were converted to Mark 30's and sold in 1958.
  • Mark 30 models were Manual Starting.
  • Electric Starting with Alternator Mark 30E models were also produced in 1956 & 57.
  • Serial numbers 943251 thru 950250 came from the factory with tiller handles. Serial numbers 984920 & up came without tiller handles for remote control operation only.
  • Mark 30 Colors:
  1. Motors from 943251 thru 945750 appear to have been painted "Quicksilver Green" & "Dull Aluminum".
  2. 1956 models 945751 & higher were produced in "Sunset Orange" & "Sand Tan," "Quicksilver Green" & "Sand Tan," "Sarasota Blue" & "Sand Tan," and "Marlin Blue" & "Gulf Blue."
  3. 1957 models are known to have been painted "Quicksilver Green" & "Sand Tan" (pictured above) and "Sunset Orange" & "Sand Tan," and also "Sarasota Blue" & "Sand Tan."
  4. 1958 models are known to have been painted "Cavalry Brown" & "Sand Tan," and "Sandalwood" & "Sand Tan." Other colors are possible as well. The motors between 997990 & 999919 were painted "Sunset Orange" & "Sand Tan."
