  • The serial number was on a plate riveted to the swivel bracket above and between the clamp screws..
  • Serial numbers 2803562 thru 2874263 were 1970 models.
  • Serial numbers 2997339 thru 3293183 were 1971 models.
  • 1970-71 Merc 650's were produced as Merc 650E (Electric Starting, Short Shaft, with Alternator) and Merc 650EL (Electric Starting, Long Shaft, with Alternator).
