General Information:

• This model was painted all "Cloud White," except for the black wraparound cowl.
• The serial number was on a plate riveted to the swivel bracket above and between the clamp screws.
• Serial numbers 1335465 thru 1339947 were 1960 models.
• Serial numbers 1369425 thru 1379805 were 1960-61 models.
• Merc 800E Short Shaft, Electric Starting with Alternator and Merc 800EL Long Shaft, Electric Starting with Alternator models were produced.
• This model was also offered with a counter-rotating (right hand rotation propeller) gearcase intended to be used along with a standard engine in a dual engine installation.
• These engines do not have a gearshift mechanism.  They use a special remote control that provides the ability to start the engine in gear, either forward or backward. (called Direct Reversing.)
