In Memory of William K. Grubb 1909-1999

William K. Grubb
In 1940, Kiekhaefer Corporation introduced it's first line of Mercury outboards. Spurred on by his love of boating and fishing and things "mechanical", William Grubb of Spring City, Pennsylvania, purchased one of those first outboards that very year. The following year, he found himself buying another to sell to a friend. In 1946, William Grubb became a franchised Mercury Outboard Dealer. For many years he hauled new motors home from a Philadelphia distributor in the back of the family sedan. Calling the business "William K. Grubb Marine", he ran his fledgling dealership from the basement of his house.

The business has always been a small "Mom & Pop" operation. William sold boats on a small scale, selling such brands over the years as Trojan, Whirlwind, Duratech, Crosby, Priwing, Duo, Glastron, and Galaxy.

Bob Grubb
Since 1976, Grubb's Marine has been under second generation ownership of Robert W. Grubb. Bob literally grew up in the family business and has been continually in contact with the service end of the operation. Today he feels somewhat uniquely qualified to buy and sell parts and offer service assistance on Mercury products of any age. Bob spends much of his work day on the telephone helping customers with their parts orders.  He is normally available weekday afternoons.

As an avid outboard hobbyist, Bob has been active in the Antique Outboard Motor Club, Inc. for over 30 years. Bob regularly attends Outboard Club meets through out the northeastern U.S. as well as an occasional more distant meet.

3rd Generation
In 1994 Bob was joined by his daughter, Becky.   She created and maintains OldMercs.com, as well as managing mail order sales.
East Coast Marine Service
Because of the increasing demand for Grubb's services, as well as our small staff, we felt the need to join forces with another local business, East Coast Marine Services of Trappe, PA.  We feel this change, which took place in February of 2001, will help us to better serve our customers by increasing the range of products and services we can offer, and by increasing staff.

New Location!

East Coast Marine and Grubb's Marine soon outgrew their shop in Trappe, PA and in 2004 built a new larger facility 3-1/2 miles down the road in Limerick Township, PA.   Although our location (and phone numbers) have changed, we are committed to bringing you the same expert service as always.

Grubb's Marine is now in its fifty-ninth year, and we believe we are the nation's largest specialist in the field of older Mercs.  We do not attempt to do this for other brands, but we can sometimes help or steer folks in the right direction.
